Van Halen fans have heard the story of the band specifying in their tour contract rider back in the 80's that there were to be no brown M&Ms included in the catering. This was dismissed over the years as another example of rock star power tripping and excess, but it was actually a fairly clever ploy from singer David Lee Roth to validate the reliability of concert promoters.
